Many of you have already seen the following post on our Facebook page. And many of you have already clicked the link and submitted to our local MLA. We have recently learned that there are more changes to come in addition to the below. Our principal will also be required to be in the classroom 1.5 days a week, reducing our principal to 3.5 days a week. We are asking our families to reach out to the mla via email or the link below, in addition please reach out to our local school trustees and the district. The district decides where the budget goes.
Today we received some heartbreaking news—our librarian, Angie Bout, has had her position reduced to just 3 days a week at Silverdale Elementary.
For those who know Angie, you know the passion and dedication she brings to our school every single day. She goes above and beyond for our students—running our ADST program, managing the library, coaching sports teams, and creating opportunities that smaller schools like ours often miss out on.
This reduction means our students will lose access to many of these valuable programs and supports.
We may be a small school, but our students deserve the same opportunities and resources as those in larger schools.
Please take a moment to make your voice heard. Reach out to our local MLA and advocate for our school community. A template is attached if you’d like help getting started.
